Medical Assistance

We provide free transportation to off-campus medical appointments and can help you obtain health insurance.

Adoption Referrals

We educate all residents on adoption options. If adoption feels right for you at any stage of your pregnancy, we will act as your advocate, provide counseling and connect you with agencies and attorneys.

Infant Care Supplies

Upon completion of the Solve program, you’ll be able to shop for a year’s supply of baby clothes and care items at our in-house baby boutique.

Pregnancy Tests & Referrals

Free pregnancy tests and referrals to local pregnancy & parenting support agencies are available by appointment. (You do not need to be a Solve resident.)

Extended housing and support is
available to qualifying Solve graduates
through our Evolve Program.

FAQ

Who can apply?

We welcome women at every stage of pregnancy, regardless of age, race, religion, color, social background, national origin or marital status. You do not need to be a Florida resident to live at Solve. We encourage you to seek our assistance as early in your pregnancy as possible so we can design a program to meet your specific needs.

Is everything really free?

Yes! Housing and all services are provided free of charge.

How do I apply?

There are four steps in the application process:

  1. Reach out: Let us know that you’re interested by calling 941-748-0094 or filling out the inquiry form at the bottom of this page.
  2. Apply & Tour: Complete the full housing application, meet some of our staff and take an informal tour of our homes.
  3. Interview: A formal housing interview will be conducted where you’ll have the opportunity to ask and answer questions about yourself and your needs. (Background & medical records may be required as part of this process.)
  4. Acceptance: A formal decision of acceptance will typically be made within 24-48 hours, based on space availability and our ability to meet your personal needs.

Where will I be living?

You will be living in a safe, supportive environment with other pregnant and parenting women in one of Solve’s four residential group homes in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. We will make every attempt to place you in the home of your choice, based on availability, staffing and safety.

How long can I stay?

We will provide free housing and support throughout your entire pregnancy and for a pre-determined amount of time after your child is born (typically six weeks), based on your specific needs. We will work with you to secure safe, reliable housing before you leave Solve.

If you choose to enroll in school, you may qualify for our Evolve program, which will provide free housing and support for an additional 1-2 years for you and your child.

Can I continue with my current education / employment?

Yes! As long as it provides a healthy environment for you and your child, we strongly encourage you to keep moving forward with your preparations for the future.

Will I be able to see the father of my baby / my friends?

Absolutely. Our goal is not to isolate you from those you care about, but to help you prepare for your future and learn to place energy into the people and things that will help you become the best mother for your child. As long as you are participating in the program-required activities and meeting your personal growth plan objectives, arrangements can be made for off-site visits.

Will I be able to bring my phone?

Yes, as long as your phone is being used responsibly and not disrupting your personal growth or your housemates’ ability to rest.

Testimonials

I couldn’t imagine life without the people that I’ve met in this program. I know that I can do things on my own now. And I’m happy being me.

I think I’ve gotten more hugs here than I’ve received in my entire life.
– Former Resident
I’m so thankful for my time at Solve. I grew up here and learned to speak up for myself. This is important as I now have to speak up for my daughter, too. I learned that I am stronger than I knew.
– Former Resident
Solve has been the family that I've never known. I am going to miss my Solve family as I move on to my new adventure.
– Former Resident
Solve taught me a lot about self-worth. I reconnected with God. They applauded me for good things I did, encouraged me to go back to school and helped me do well in school.
